U.S. Fertility in Context
This presentation explores U.S. fertility trends using national and international data through 2025. It explains how fertility is measured, highlights long-term declines since the Baby Boom, and documents a 16% drop in births since 2007. Fertility rates have fallen across all racial and ethnic groups, with the steepest declines among AI/AN and Hispanic women. State-level comparisons show wide variation and regional patterns in fertility. The presentation also examines racial shifts in birth proportions, noting that non-Hispanic White births now account for less than half of U.S. births. Globally, U.S. fertility remains higher than most peer nations, despite falling below replacement level.
